What?!

When i first saw it..

i got weak in the knees.

my heart stopped beating for a while.

my head felt light and dizzy.

my stomach suddenly had lotsa butterflies.

my hunger subsided.

my appetite gone completely.

I, had to lie down for a while to regain my composure. Under the fast and furious fan that is. I needed to catch my breath back for sure.

What exactly did i see?

Nope, not the Tiffany Atlas ring with diamonds that i have been eyeing for.

Nope, not a whole room filled with red rose petals too.

Sadly, not some air tickets for a holiday which i have been dreaming of.

So, what exactly did i see?

I saw this..

Yes, i saw a ball.

Actually, 2 orange balls to be exact.

2 very very small orange balls.

You must be thinking "sherie's gone nuts, right?!".

But you know what?

I bet, if u were to see it, you would have felt exactly like me. No kidding!

Because......

i saw them in here.

Can you see it?

Right inside the ear for pete's sake!! *faint*

Deep deep in.

Not 1 side, but both sides.

So, which mommy won't feel what i felt?

Didi aka boy2 stuffed 2 balls into his ears, one side each with chopsticks! No one noticed anything amiss until the boy started taking lotsa tissues from the tissue box. When asked why, he calmly said it was for the balls inside his ears.

The boy was still running around, laughing and laughing thinking it was funny. I tell ya, it is so not funny! I didn't know whether to cry or laugh. Or whether to scold or love.

I was very calm at first. I managed to get 1 ball out. But when the other ball at another side refused to budge but went in deeper, that was the time i started to feel all the above. I called the hospital immediately and asked for advise.

Even though it was TMC [Thomson Medical Centre] that i called, i was advised to proceed straight to KKH instead. I was told that i needed to go KKH for they are better equipped *gasp*. And that that that that nurse i was talking to, was laughing throughout the conversation! She found it amusing! But then, who wouldn't?

When i called the husband a few seconds later, the husband also found it amusing. So we waited for the husband to come home before going to KKH together.

Hb insisted on trying to get the ball out when he came home against my wish. After many tries, he still couldn't. And me?

Hiding in another room, the heart can take no more seeing how deep in the ball was. Just when we were gonna leave for the hospital, hb decided to give it one last try, this time using another 'tool'. See below.

The tool that hb and i used : the metal one.

The tool which hb used later on : the green one, the sharp end.

As we were about to reach the in laws' house to drop the kids, hb told me to check the boy's ear once more. [i was already in the jelly-like condition no joke]

Guess what?

The ball was gone!!

That donkey husband managed to get the ball out after all, during his last try using the green tool! And he didn't even tell me! Arrrgghh...

So smack, hit, curse, glare it was. Hb so so deserved it for causing me an addition of 15 minutes of misery.

Thank god the ball came out. My emotions got so mixed that i dragged the boy into the room, hugged him tight and cried out loud. Heh. Boy said sorry, promised not to do it anymore and sayang me back for causing the mommy so much tears... aihss...

My lost appetite remained lost despite of the reversed situation.

Lol..

the husband did freak out after all! :P

Hog's Breath Cafe

The girls were raving about how good the steaks are here. Not once but again and again.

So this carnivore here die die also dragged the husband down to try even though the husband was abit sceptical when it comes to restaurants that i wanna bring him these days. Haha..

The first time we went, we were blown away by its steaks. But still, i didn't wanna do a write up on it coz it was our first time after all. What if it was simply a coincidence that the chef happened to do the steaks nicely that night? ^.^

The second time when hb went with his sister + bf [i wasn't around then], it was all raves again. That was the time when we got pretty confident about the steaks there so we took the parents down.

Unfortunately, the branch we went wasn't the same one as our first's and second's. We went to a different branch and let's just put it this way [the verdict]. Fil - father in law's tooth dropped out whilst chewing the beef!! :O

The last visit was our 5th visit and i dare say this now, go and try their steaks soon!

Photos.. during our last visit there.

The soup :

It's chicken and vegetable soup. We dislike it. The only soup we like from Hog is their mushroom soup which is really really creamy. Perhaps, a tad too creamy for the fatty me but not for the skinny husband though.

The steak :

Close up shot :

Check that pink! 'nuff said! *wink*

My chicken wrap :

Wanted to try something different on our 5th visit. The wrap isn't too bad. Ok-lah. U know, not too bad and not too fab kind. Something that i will order again when i don't feel like 'steak-ing' :)

A close up shot :

Lotsa cheese in it!

Last but not least, the husband, my no-frills husband!! Lol

Bet he's gonna so freaked out when he sees this. Don't think hb will ever guess that i am gonna put up his photo on my blog! *ngek*ngek*ngek*

Anyway, if you are really keen to try...

1. go to the one at Chjimes.
2. order blackened steaks. their original ones are pretty tasteless, to me that is.
3. order medium rare. it's a must! medium rare isn't bloody at all. medium cooked ones are a bit tough.
4. don't bother trying their chicken and vege soup. if they've got mushroom soup, order it! :P
5. other than their blackened medium rare steaks, their other stuff are pretty average if not bad. Lol.

There are a few things which i like about Hog's Breath. Firstly, it doesn't burn a huge hole in our pocket. Also, we don't have to dress up to go. I once went in my shorts [after my flea market the other day] and no one gave a damn. The peeps there don't scan you up and down, down and up like other places do. Best of all, i'm so comfortable there that i actually sat with my legs crossed [was a tad too tired after flea-ing]! Heh.

I know, ah lian right! :P

But if you're someone who is more 'atas', then this place isn't really for you ah.. Not chick/class/chi chi enough. Ambience? What's that?!

Kids..

They do say the darnest thing don't they?

The other day when we were in the car, i started giving the boys some nicknames just for tease!

Nick names -

1. Shuoze a.k.a boy1 gets Weng [surname] chou chou* because he likes eating his fingers. He can put all 5 fingers into his mouth at 1 go to eat, nibble and whatnots. Terrible. Sometimes, when he's too bored, he eats his shirt too! Eat and eat till the whole front is wet! *faint*

Because of this, he smells all the time, from his own saliva hence the nickname.

2. Boy2 gets Weng huaidan* because he has been extremely naughty these days. Hehe.. usually, he's the angel but now, *roll eyes*, he's a monster at times! So not used to it yet. However, despite him being a monster at times, he still has this adorable face that i cannot refuse to kiss even when he's naughty!

Some facts about boy2.

Looks wise, he's the odd one out among the 3 boys. But to those who got to know the boys better, they will automatically prefer boy2. He has this thing that draw people to him. Strange but true. You will wanna get into his good book somehow. He has something that boy1 doesn't. Adorable is the magic word according to the friends and siblings.

Boy2 wins people slowly but permanently where else boy1 wins people instantly but not permanently. Heh.

3. Beepbeep has no nickname for the time being, from me that is. But boy1 got one for him though. He calls him Weng CuteCute. Grin.

So, after i gave the boys their nicknames, they gave 1 to me too!

When boy1 asked me to guess what it was, i cheekily said 'Weng meili'! Hahahaa..

But it wasn't, unfortunately. Dang! :P

What nickname do you think the boy gave me? ^.^

When i first heard it, i burst out laughing so loud and hard that the tears came rolling out. I totally didn't expect that at all. Never! Ever! Not in this life at least.. haha.

The boy called me "Weng ma ren"!!!

Which means scold people in direct translation.

I asked boy1 why and he told me it was because i always scold them. Grin. Aiyo! *slap forehead*

So much for being the fun mommy!!

Now now.. i must really change that shouldn't i? Hahaha.. I refused to be remembered as the mommy who always scolds us. I want to be remembered as the mommy who cooks and bakes good food and the mommy who is fun and sporting too!

Most importantly, i wanna be the mommy who is also our friend :)

*chou chou = smelly
*huai dan = naughty

Financiers

OOooo.. i love these lovelies.

They are absolutely delicious!

They're made from egg whites, melted butter and almond meal. Again, looks can be very deceiving here. Heh.

I love its texture, soft and moist yet light. The almond meal is almost not there, you can't quite taste the graininess but the nutty almond taste is definitely there.

I like this better than Friands if you were to ask me. So if i've got extra egg whites next time, Financiers is the word :P

Because i did 2-3 types of cakes within a 2 days' span, i gave some to the boys' very nice paediatrician when we went to the East side to send the mixer for service.

Quite a girlie gift box aye? No other boxes!

In it, i packed 2 Financiers and a slice of Chocolate Truffle cake which i made specially for the husband before we left to KL. The husband has been requesting for it for months! Heh.

Cakes for the doctor :)

Hope the doc loves them as much as i do...

Recipe :

1/2 cup slice almond
6oz unsalted butter
1 tbsp vanilla extract
4 large egg whites (room temp)
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
1 1/3 cup icing sugar
1 cup plain flour
3/4 ground almond

1. Toast the almond slices till brown
2. Brown butter in a saucepan with vanilla. Cook over medium heat till butter is foamy and light brown. Cool to lukewarm
3. Beat egg whites and tartar till soft peaks. Then slowly add the icing sugar and whip till firm and glossy peaks
4. Fold in the flour into the egg white in 3 stages
5. Fold in the ground almond into egg white in 3 stages, follow by the cooled browned butter mixture in 3 stages
6. Divide batter. Take note that batter will not rise that much. Only slightly. Sprinkle the top with toasted almonds and bake for 12-15 mins in 150 degree oven

Bon appetite! :D

Funny ah beep

Sharing some of ah beep's funny photos :D

Ah beep's shocked face upon seeing the camera aiming at him when he was doing his big business. Hee...

When i first saw this pic, the first thing that came to my mind was beep getting shocked after realising that i was actually gonna take a photo of him doing it and trying to cover up as well, which explains the right hand 'there' :P [yes, me and my many imaginations! heh]

A more composed beep after knowing the camera IS going to shoot him no matter what. But still covering himself up there.. haha. I heart that chubby breasts!!! *squeeze*squeeze* :ppPPpp

The monster beep! Hahahaha.. i c.a.n.n.o.t stop laughing seeing this photo. Too bad the pic turned out rather blur else i would have sent it for some ugly-monstrous-face competition! Lol.

Another twisted face from beep. I love that small mouth of his!! ^.^
