Gf's wedding

Another overdue post! *hide*

The gf's wedding was on Dec 15th!

Anyway, for the very first time, i was asked to be one of ji muis [sisters] for the morning tea ceremony as my other married gfs didn't have one.

The gorgeous bride and i. Gosh.. i practically had to hide my giant arms away because the bride's arms were like THAT! Nope, i won't wanna show or tell u how big mine is! 'giant' would do. I'm too embarrassed!

And then, THE wedding dinner.

All my life, i have not been to one this grand.

Sure, i have been to many many in 5/6 stars hotel but somehow, this gf's wedding tops the cake.

With the very awesome deco and theme, not to mention.. the food.

Sounds like any normal Chinese wedding dinner menu aye?

Then u are so so wrong!

Because that was what i thought too.

The .food. fits fine dining bill perfectly.

And it's not Cheena. It's fusion with the fine dining very artistic deco style which we were served exactly that for every each of us individually.

The quality?

I wasn't expecting much initially as i'd been to the exact hotel for another gf's wedding dinner 1.5 years ago. You know, the normal standard..

Until i had my first bite for dish no.1.

I was completely blown away.

There after, i kept looking forward to the next dish, and the next and the next, not only for the food but also for the presentation as well ;)

Just for you to get a rough idea of what i'm blabbering about, here's my dessert..

Mango Galangal soup - vanilla milk ice cream + almond twirl. Oh, the choc cake behind it? It's the wedding cake which the beautiful couple cut on stage! How cool is that?

I finished every drop of it needless to say though i felt like a stuffed turkey!

Unfortunately, this is the only food photo i managed to capture because i was too busy looking forward to the food and savouring them! :P

Last but not least, my ex schoolmates and i.

I don't remember telling anyone but this is my ugliest hair style ever!!!!!!!

I will be kind and spare you the details. But seriously, i had never felt so ugly in my entire life before. [right after facial not included!]

My hair was ironed to stick straight and totally flat! Like flat's FLAT. No kidding. I specifically told her stylist to just blow dry for the Pantene effect but die die also tried to persuade me to straighten it using the iron.

As a nice girl, i didn't have the heart to say no so many times.

By the time i got home, i had only 5 minutes [no thanks to the 'ironing'! which took more than an hour to do - she told me it'd be done in
15 mins and i stupidly believed her. Ugh. Simple blow dry would be just 10-15 mins max? which was what i had estimated that fits my schedule perfectly] to change and do my make up - which i didn't of course - take ang pow [i forgot about the money and had to borrow from friends!], clutch and visiting the loo before another gf came to pick me up.

Throughout the whole night, i was consciously messing up the hair [so it won't be so flat] or covered half my face with the hair because i was totally unpresentable :(

It was really a disaster -> me.

Thank God for the food and incredible companions whom somehow made me felt a little normal. Yeah, i thought i looked pretty abnormal. Haha :P

And the bride, whoaaaaaaa.. she was breathta
kingly beautiful and she's my girlfriend! ^.^

The beautiful couple and our chocolate cake! ^.^

So beautifully captured

p.s : i also happened to have the worst break out ever on the gf's wedding day which started a week before that and lasted all the way to January due to switch in products. Ugh!

She so spoils me!

I was supposed to surprise her but i got surprised instead! ^.^

This girl ah.. really knows how to spoil me!

First, it was an unexpected birthday pressie, followed by Xmas pressie [i also got her one early early luckily but sent out late though *oopps*!] and now, this!

Think the babe knows we like pork floss! Heh.

And also me liking make up palettes!

For the past half a year, i've been learning how to do eye make up especially when i have some special date [mostly with the girls since the gong gong husband doesn't know how to appreciate it. Lol - hb likes me without make up best.. men, say only right? :P] going on and so far, all attempts have been pretty successful!

So this palette really came in handy! :D

Nice colours, aye?

Even my not-into-eye-make-up-mil thinks the colours are very pretty! She even told me that she's been looking for such colours for a long long time already [and i thought she wasn't even into eye make up?!] ..

*ahem* I am definitely not giving her mine! *scowl*

Me like the leopard print many many oki! :P

Beep's 1st birthday party

It was my 1st time organizing a party for the kids.

The 2 elder boys never had one before. Usually, it'd be celebration with the in laws and that's it. But for beep's 1st birthday, i itchy backside went on to organize one and i'm sure glad i did :)

As the party started around 2.30pm, it meant tea party. No real food. Just finger food and all.

The kids

I like having not too many people in parties. Nice, cozy and comfortable. I'm not so much of a social butterfly. In fact, i don't really know how to socialize. In some ways, i think i'm very much of an introvert :P

Beep and i :D

For the party, i only invited 2 close gfs over + their brood.

It may sound very few but when they were all here, gosh... it was worst than pasar malam! Lol.

But i like.

The gang :)

The food that i prepared with 2 helpers :

Fish ball, cherry tomato, ham, cucumber + fish ball skewers

Sausage roll - the shortcut way :P

Fondue!

The cube cake that went into the chocolate sauce, marble cake which the gfs ta pao back - everyone loves it!

Besides the food above, we also have the boring ham and cheese sandwich :P

Last but not least, pressies for the birthday boy!

Simply lovely ...

And the gfs didn't only gave pressie to the birthday boy, the mommy also have! *yay*. So nice of them. Heh.

2 of the items were lugged back all the way from the UK ;)

Thank you Angels *muaks*

All in all, it was a happy happy day for all. It was a blast =)

Grand Marnier orange muffin with chocolate chips and cranberries

I've been extremely busy these few days!

And i think i will be even busier for the next 2-3 weeks :P

But. It is happy busy. Busy clothes shopping actually.

Not for me of course but for the boys. However, in between.. i do sneak in a couple of minutes for myself to look see look see whenever possible. Grin.

Anyway, last week i baked some muffins for a gathering with the gfs.

You know, i think to date.. i feel muffins are the hardest thing to bake. You must never over mixed them or else, they'd be as hard as rock.

Fortunately, i remember the no.1 rule very well and although the muffins weren't as yummy as i had anticipated.. they weren't hard, unlike my 1st experience quite some time ago.

The lighting was really bad when i took these pictures so you can't really tell what's in them. Basically, as mentioned in the tittle.. it has got chocolates and Grand Marnier soaked dried cranberries in them.

For myself, i find them okay, not too bad. Not to say super yummy nor yucky at all. Somehow, i actually feel they were pretty healthy in fact!

Initially i was so worried about the muffins' appearance [they weren't pretty at all!] that i almost refused to bring them for the gathering.

Because i didn't have much time left for another baking session, i had no choice but to pack them along.

But guess what?

The girl friends liked it!

Either that or they were being very very nice to me. Ha! :P

Good food, excellent host

Last Saturday, i was invited to a new friend's open house. A very nice and friendly friend whom i got to know through a cake decorating class sometime ago.

We didn't keep in touch since then until i texted this new friend for festive greeting since she was celebrating her Raya :)

The first thing that hit me when we first arrived was her house.

It was beauttiiful and very modernised. Totally unexpected. Now, i dare not invite this new friend over to my house anymore! Too malu ah.. :P

As i had imagined, this new friend was still as friendly as ever. We hit it off from the beginning, once more, as though we had been some friends for years already. We yak and yak.. and the food, whoa.. very the sedap i tell you.. *drool*

The pretty house and yummy food + kpo boy :P

We had nasi briyani with 2 meat dishes. Oh, there was salad too. And not forgetting, a countless kind of cookies and cakes, all made, baked, cooked by the new friend.

This chicken dish is so unforgettable!

Ayam masak merah

Very spicy. The chicken is fried till just right, with juices retained unlike some stalls outside, fried till all dried up. I really do feel like attempting this myself after getting some cooking tips for the 'shifu' :P

As for the kids, they had the rice with a little bit of the beef dish.. which is just a little bit spicy.

The beef.. so tender! I suspect this dish has been slowly cooked for hours with love hence, the beef has that 'fall apart easily' effect in the mouth.. Heh.

Now, the best part is the cookies and cakes. But it was so unfortunate that i didn't get to eat the very fanciful cakes at all.. because the lovely 2 tier serving plate got moved here and there to various groups so, kinda paiseh to just walk up and take a few slices. The face skin not thick enough ah! :Ppp

Nevertheless, devouring the cookies made up to it.

Different kind of cookies.. the green one with peanut filling is absolutely divine! Melt in the mouth and then suddenly, crunch peanut filling. Yumsssssssss~

One of the friend's husband colllection. So cool yeah? Too bad i forgot about the Hard Rock one.. Dang!

Finally, us.. with our new friend :)

We all looked kinda worn out because we were in the hospital earlier for nearly 3 hours!

I call her Kak Siti.. It sounds better and more respectful but i wonder if that's okie with her because i do know some might find it offensive, mainly because it made them seemed so old like that but of course, that wasn't what i meant at all.. I better ask this friend what she prefers because i don't wanna seem rude :P

And last but not least, green ang pows for the boys. Their very first green ang pows... Previous visit to hb's collegue place, we got red ang pows instead of green. So, that doesn't count ya!

What a lovely day..

Because of the 1 sms sent, i had so much more in return especially a new friendship with this nice new friend. I am so glad :D

It's a fun fun day!

Bestie and i planned to surprise the kids by bringing them for the Duck Tour on Children's Day. Imagine me struggling.. It is a very hard thing for me. Not telling the boys where i'm bringing them that is.

Because i know, they love love love and been wanting to go for the Duck Tour for the longest time.

What a tough time indeed..

When we finally reached the counter at Suntec, they turned to ask me if i was bringing them for the Duck Tour. Yes yes yes! They jumped and screamed with joy... :)

Bestie and i met at the counter together with her brood. The kids met and it was hard not to stare because they were so high! Lol.

We wanted to go for the 10am tour but it was fully booked. The next available one was at noon. We had no choice but to go for that. The 11am one was also fully booked. I never knew that the Duck Tour can be this hot! Heh.

With an extra 2 hours on hand, it spelled headache for the mommies. Instead of walking around, we pigged out. Something that everyone enjoys :P

At 11.50am..

Waiting patiently for our turn

I think no one else can look so adorable when yawning besides babies... Haha. Seriously lo! [not just my baby oki? All babies!]

Bestie and her son

The children - 5 in total!

Finally, my boys and i :)

It was really tough to get good pictures with the children around. It is as good as not taking any! Mothers with more than 1 child will know that for sure. Or if you've got nieces/nephews, you will know it too! Put 3 children or more together from different family, you will get double headache. Haha..

All in all, it was truly a fun fun day. Till today, the boys are still talking about it *smile*.

So it was a right decision after all, to pick the Duck Tour rather than the MacRitchie Tree Top Walk.. :D [but i am definitely gonna do that on the next available holiday!]

KKB rafting

I've been waiting for this day the longest time, with much excitement and fear.. yep, both at the same time!

This time round, i went with my gfs instead of the sisters.

There were 9 of us + 5 of my sister's friend and herself. This, happened only 2 Sundays ago but now looking back, it felt as though it has been ages already!

Hb was there too! :)

The alarm clock beeped at 5.55am that morning. Personally, an extra 5 mins of slumber matter quite a bit to me. Hence the weird timing. But mostly, it was because we slept just 3 hours ago.

Even after washing the face, i still felt worn out from the Karaoke that we had on the night before with the sisters and hb. For the uninitiated, i don't sing. I go because of the husband and sisters. It was fun albeit me not singing. It was fun watching the 3 sisters battling with the husband for the mic. Ha! Seriously.. i was like FINALLY! Because usually whenever we do go K, it'll be the husband and myself only and the hb sings by himself. No fighting for the mic.

Anyway, back to the rafting trip.

So yeah, we managed to drag our sleepy bottoms out of the house on time, shockingly. Met the rest for breakfast and then, it was rafting time!

After an hour of driving, we reached Kuala Kubu Bahru, a small town outside KL in Selangor. We went in 3 cars but hb and i didn't drive thankfully. For once, we were the passengers :P

Reached KKB at 8.30am sharp as instructed but the guides came only at 9am. To pass time, we slapped on sunblocks and took a couple of photos before going for breakfast again. Second round, mind you!

The gfs and i. From left : Sha Li, Lee Li, me and Carol (my bestie :D)

The guys took photos too but with Carol's camera. Not mine unfortunately. But to wait for Carol to send it to me is like waiting for the sun to rise from the West. Heh :P So no photos of the guys.

Another shot of us

If you're wondering what's that thing on my hand, that's gloves. Driving gloves to be exact. To protect my arms for sunburn and tan.

I got teased mercilessly for wearing that. Grin. The girls called it socks! *slap forehead* And they refused to acknowledge it as gloves, even till now. Heh. Funny gfs, aye?

The weather was pretty nice at first. But half an hour into the trip, the sun was scorching hot!

As a result, check this out. Hb's sunburn.

The photo was taken just 3 days ago. Imagine how it looks like for the first few days.. and mine too!

Even though i had the 'socks' on, it didn't help very much. Neither did the Spf50 which i slapped on earlier. Grrr...

This time round, the rafting was not 'that' fun even though it was supposed to be better. Afterall, the rapids that we went through was grade 3-5! The most extreme ones. So why it wasn't as fun as the one i went before this?

The guides.

Not that sociable. Another word, boring. And half the time, we couldn't quite make out what they were saying. If i'm not wrong, they're Kadazans or something.

The gfs wanted me to go with them on 1 raft minus hb. But i insisted on keeping the husband with me so in the end, there were 5 of us on a raft, hence the big raft we took.

The first rapid was the scariest among all. It was the video that i posted ealier.

The guys' raft got capsized. It was overturned at the very first drop. They were so traumatised by it that one of them actually skipped the grade 4 rapid, known as the 'chicken drop' which was a fatal one that killed more than 10 people this year alone. But i don't see that as 'chickened out' though.

As hb said, to say no to it is more courageous than anything else. It takes a lot of courage and bravery to say no, knowing that there will be so many 'mouths' talking about it, laughing at you so on and so forth.

But like what i told the wife-my gf then after some uncalled for something, it is absolutely OK. Nothing wrong with being scared or feeling uncomfortable. So what if he's a guy. He's human too. At least, i personally feel that he is much braver than the ones who insisted on going through that rapid with a very scared heart but the ego forbids them from doing the same.

So yeah, the guys' raft got capsized. As we looked on [we went first], seeing how they struggled, i almost wanted to jump into the river to help 1 of them who was a non swimmer because he didn't surface for the longest time. My heart almost stopped beating that moment. Later, i found out the other gfs felt the same as i did as well. Wanted to jump in and help.

Because we took the big raft, our chances of getting capsized were pretty slim. To be honest, i was both devastated and relieved. Haha. But the gfs didn't feel the same i think. They were much braver than i am. Athletes they are, you see.

Halfway through the rafting, we switched raft with the guys. But still, nothing happened to us! The guys got capsized twice but not us. In the end, the guides (the more sporting ones) secretly over turn the raft twice for us. Shock, yes. Fun, not really. I still prefer to let the nature takes its course :P

Oh, surprisingly.. the husband fell into the water during the last rapid which was a Grade 5. The only person in the entire raft who fell. Lol. How did hb fell? Hb himself also doesn't know. Heh. But the position he was in was the same as my position the previous time. A very easy position to fall in. I drank quite a bit of water though.

But hb managed to get back up into the raft himself in less than a minute. None of us knew he fell actually, until he was half way up and hb actually went under the raft! :P

Overall, i still prefer my other experience. More fun, even though the rapids were only grade 3. I really think it is because of the guides. They do make a huge different. Luckily i've got so very fun friends. Else, i sure fall asleep liao.. :P

Tips : if you don't wanna fall in or don't wish for your raft to get capsized, do go for the bigger raft. Smaller rafts get capsized much easily.

Spidermommy and spiderboy

That's us! [boy1 and i ;)]

It wasn't in the itinerary before we went back.

It was an impromptu plan which came about when i met the gfs on Thursday afternoon, chilling out at the bestie's house.

Bestie is currently waiting to start work at the hospital and another close gf has recently started her own company which, is a very good thing because that would mean flexible schedule, and we can practically go anywhere we want during the week days!

So rock climbing it was for us + the elder boy of mine. Didi refused to join in no matter what i say/do. Hehe.. He was pretty scared :P

During the safety talk

It was Laurence (the only guy with us) and my first time doing it. Sha and Carol had done it before. Sha is the experience one as she had done it more than thrice already. And of course, it was the boy's first too..

Me on our 'practise' wall

Rock climbing isn't exciting but it is v.e.r.y challenging.

It involves a lot of arms' strength which i definitely lack of and a bit of the legs' strength too. After doing 3-4 walls, around 9-10 climbs, my arms were shaking and trembling, literally. But the legs were fine.

Me belaying Shuoze

Even though it wasn't exciting, i quite like it. Pretty addictive.

Every time when i fail to climb to the top for certain walls, i get pretty determine to do it again and again till i manage to. However, for other walls which i know i cannot, i just stop. What is also interesting is that sometimes, after your first climb and you somehow didn't manage to complete it, you'll get down, stare and start doing a 'mental' climb in your head before you start your second climb again. Heh. Cute aye?

And for some other times, you'll even stop in the midst of it and start doing the mental climb before continuing :)

For Shuoze, it was a lot tougher as he is still a child. The walls were meant for adults and imagine the difficulty he encountered!

He needed to really stretch and use his legs + arms strength in order to get himself from one step to a further step. After seeing him completing 2 walls, all the way to the top, i was amazed. Seriously, i was so proud. I mean, he's only 5 and he could do a grade 5B wall!

All of us looking up at Shuoze, cheering for him

However, he did stop in the midst of the climb, looked down at me and told me he was scared. Which kid wouldn't right? It was so high! But the friends and i will cheer on for him and tell him it will be ok, and if he's tired, just let go, we'll be there to catch him. Most importantly, do not look down! It's rather scary you know, even for me when i do look down..

The first few times, i was his belayer and the last few times, he actually went to join my friends instead. Heh. And i thought he was pretty cool when i told him to do the 'L' shape when he was coming down and i didn't even teach him about it but thank god he knows.

For the time being, the best i did was a Grade 6A and nothing more than that. The next time i go, i am so gonna tackle that 6C wall which i didn't manage to climb.

Hb is very very keen to join us the next time i go. I wonder how hb will fare... because from what i see, i think girls are definitely better at it! :PppPP [if we have strong arms that is] We are, more agile and flexible :D

Err, but first,
anyone has dumb bells to loan me? :P

Missy Donuts

Apart from Donuts Factory, there are Missy Donuts, this donut and that donut.

From what i read in 8 Days ( local magazine), it seems that Missy Donuts was supposed to be better than Donuts Factory and i'm keen to try! :P

Firstly, the q isn't that long in the morning or rather, no q at all, around 11ish when i go pick the boys up nearby.

Secondly, i wanted to buy some for Celest too ever since i read from her comment here and mostly because i feel Celest is a very nice person + generous as well! I like buying/ giving things to nice and generous people. They really make life more wonderful and meaningful :)

Note : nice + generous and nice + calculative + stingy are 2 entirely different story all together.

So yesterday when i was bringing the boys to ICA to update their passport photos, i made a detour just to deliver the donuts for Celest at her workplace after buying them from Bukit Panjang Plaza but no biggie since she is just at Holland V.

I did inform her that i was gonna pass her something but i didn't say what. I wonder what she thought i was gonna pass her before she received the package from me :P

Missy Donuts

Oh, if you do not know by now, next week - 31st August is the last time u can ever update your photos in the passport. The new passport uses Biopass that has got a chip in it and the down side is that u can not do photo updating with it ( i didn't know about it until my beepbeep's passport was ready for collection and beepbeep's photo was taken when he was 1 day old! Am pretty sure he'll need a new passport very soon..).

So if your passport/ your children's photo in the passport is abit outdated, go update now!

When we were there yesterday, the crowd was terrible. Towards the late afternoon, it got so so much worst. I can't imagine next week's! The total hours we spent there was 3! o.O

Tips : if you are planning to drive there, make sure you display enough parking coupons on the dashboard. The number of the people in white summoning is more than 5 and they are there prowling almost every half hour! I know because we returned to the car to wait instead of waiting at the super crowded waiting area.

Because of the long hours we spent there, the supposedly go-home-then-eat-donuts were all gobbled up by us, but mostly me actually *hide*. Mouth itchy + nothing to do + hungry. No choice ah.. :P

Initially wanted to take a photo of the donuts, wanting to show the diff between Missy Donuts and Donuts Factory but all i have when we reached in the evening was this..

Paiseh ah! *blush*

Verdict : I prefer Donuts Factory better. Their topping is more generously put and i feel the quality is slightly better too.

Hopefully Celest will enjoy hers, and girl.. no more saying thank you ok! :)

To my Old Navy Spree organiser : you are always on my mind too! Just that no chance to do anything y.e.t *wink*

Hello Kitty cookies

Just last week, i received my new Hello Kitty cookie cutter from a spree in a forum. After seeing quite many posts by floogers on these cookies, i couldn't wait to do mine.

I must say the cutter really came at the right time because Celest placed her second order (for her collegue's birthday who happens to be a cheesecake lover) with me for my cookies and cream cheesecake and i really wanted to fulfill the vow that i made not too long ago :P

Sooooooooo adorable right?

These kitties were made for specially for Celest. Thank god it turned out all good, taste and appearance wise because the recipe was a new one. But i think i will cut down on the sugar the next time i bake them. Celest thought they were okay though. Not too sweet :)

I prepared 2 packets for Celest. Knowing her, she will definitely share her cookies with her collegues. So, one solely for her and another packet for her to share with her very nice collegues - i met some of them :)

As for the cheesecake, i am really glad to know that it was a hit and they loved it!

So much so that her collegue will be ordering the same cake from me soon i heard. Hehehehehe.. :P
